AI ISN’T COMING FOR YOUR JOB, IT’S COMING FOR YOUR WATER
Printmaking
Lino and woodblock printing
My body of work examines the environmental cost of artificial intelligence. I used digital prints of birds ensnared in electrical cords and binary code to represent the threat that digital systems pose to nature. The four detailed colour-reduction prints of computer chips illustrate AI’s impact on climate, energy, water and carbon emissions. My intention in merging facts about AI’s consumption of resources with technological detritus was to communicate the often-unseen ecological consequences of our accelerating digital age.
My artmaking practice has been influenced by the study and interpretation of the following artists: Todd R Forsgren, Haylie Atkins.
