My series, Liminality, explores how we as humans are confronted with the barriers between the digital and physical worlds in what we may call liminal spaces. This term is derived from the Latin word ‘limens’ meaning ‘threshold’, a place in the space-time continuum with a distinct promise of transformation. The squares function as a universal language, representing the barrier between literal and figurative space. Inspired by Edward Hopper’s expressions of the alienating and uncertain experience of modern life, I chose the solitude and loneliness of urban environments at the transitionary period of twilight to represent this experience of shifting realities.
