Fragmented Self

Collection of Works

Concrete, Hydrostone, acrylic mirror

Using the postmodern mediums of sculpture and digital media in a monochrome colour palette, my intent in my body of work was to explore the imperfections and distinct differences of individuals. Fragmented Self represents the illusory and transient nature of self-image and the eroded state of society in its constant yearning for perfection. This unattainable quest hinders the perception of self and distorts our sense of identity. Constantly changing sets of aesthetic ideals cause distorted views of self. The key motif of the mirror expresses humanity’s desire for perfection and the fragmented visions that confront individuals.

My artmaking practice has been influenced by the study and interpretation of the following artists: Daniel Arsham and Johnson Tsang.
