We Thrived

Drawing, graphite and coloured pencil

My body of work explores the concept of overpopulation and its effects on living conditions in a contemporary Australian society. Our growing population has changed the way we acknowledge our rich heritage and culture, including our native flora and vegetation and some of Sydney's important infrastructure- the Sirius building. Utilising graphite with dark, dull tones of coloured pencil, from a worm's eye view the rapidly increasing trend of vertical living is emphasised. A juxtaposition of native Australian flora mirrors this concept, further articulating the dying nature of our heritage landscape.

An artistic orange brushstroke design forms abstract shapes on a white background. Overlaid on the design is the word "artexpress" in a sleek, modern black font. The orange brush strokes appear dynamic and free-flowing, with splatters and tapered ends.Simplified waratah flower in deep red colour with the words NSW Government in dark blue stacked underneath.
