Humans have had a negative effect on the environment since the Industrial Revolution. My body of work represents the lack of human empathy towards the environment through the imagery of oil slicks. The human, the main subject and fool, laughs ignorantly at the catastrophic situation they have created in pursuit of riches. The devastation of oil spills progresses from origin to result, as the environment becomes a more fragile and finite resource. My work questions our social responsibility and identifies our greed as a suffocating force. What can survive the heavy, slick shroud that cloaks our industrialised existence?

An artistic orange brushstroke design forms abstract shapes on a white background. Overlaid on the design is the word "artexpress" in a sleek, modern black font. The orange brush strokes appear dynamic and free-flowing, with splatters and tapered ends.Simplified waratah flower in deep red colour with the words NSW Government in dark blue stacked underneath.
