The Greatest Weight

Time Based Forms, film

Life is cyclical in nature, a framework which caters occupation at the expense of psychological and physical degradation. Friedrich Nietzsche's theory of 'eternal recurrence' - where existence will continue to recur in a parallel manner - causes us to reconsider our submission to the cycle of life, and whether or not we could bear the 'greatest weight' of re-living our lives for eternity. Incorporating three separate videos playing simultaneously I have utilised Nietzsche's concept to depict the haunting aspects of the seemingly mundane processes of domestic human behaviour.

An artistic orange brushstroke design forms abstract shapes on a white background. Overlaid on the design is the word "artexpress" in a sleek, modern black font. The orange brush strokes appear dynamic and free-flowing, with splatters and tapered ends.Simplified waratah flower in deep red colour with the words NSW Government in dark blue stacked underneath.
