Abendlicht

Printmaking, lino printmaking

My body of work explores the issues of war during the post-world war Germany, transitioning into the cold war era. As this time was dark, there was this absence of light in Germany and as my heritage is German, I wanted to reflect the issues of the war into 'Abendlicht', to evoke the audience of a previous era, a dark time for the world. I incorporated a traditional German landscape with minor details from my family to express the destruction war has to civilians.

An artistic orange brushstroke design forms abstract shapes on a white background. Overlaid on the design is the word "artexpress" in a sleek, modern black font. The orange brush strokes appear dynamic and free-flowing, with splatters and tapered ends.Simplified waratah flower in deep red colour with the words NSW Government in dark blue stacked underneath.
