Distorted Depths – No Light Matter

Printmaking, cyanotypes, drypoint etching on paper

My work aims to expose the disconcerting future of our oceans and the detrimental effect that plastic has on this. My love for marine life and the environment inspired me to create this artwork and it expresses my fear for the future of the ocean and demonstrates the monstrous damage that plastic has on marine life. I have explored the theory that plastic may replace the sea creatures, further accentuated through the plastic bags mirroring the shape of jellyfish. This aims to raise awareness about the adverse effects that plastic has on the earth, and that single-use plastic may have more of an effect on the earth than may have previously been perceived.

An artistic orange brushstroke design forms abstract shapes on a white background. Overlaid on the design is the word "artexpress" in a sleek, modern black font. The orange brush strokes appear dynamic and free-flowing, with splatters and tapered ends.Simplified waratah flower in deep red colour with the words NSW Government in dark blue stacked underneath.
