My body of work was inspired by four Grimms’ fairy tales: Hansel and Gretel, Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood and Cinderella. The portraits are of my friends and family; I recognise something of each story in each person. The original Grimm stories explore many confronting and gruesome themes, but today's society has removed their bleak realities to mould them for children’s audiences. My work challenges why, as a society, we feel obliged to shield younger generations from these themes. My work represents these stories as being happy, to invite the audience to delve into their truths themselves.

My artmaking practice has been influenced by the study and interpretation of the following artists: Vincent Fantauzzo, Paul Jackson.
