Blind Faith

Graphic Design, acrylic on paper, photographs

The world works in disguises. Behind every facade, a deeper truth is revealed. My work playfully illuminates a series of domestic subterfuges and deceptions. Using found paper, images and then my own illustrations framed by shallow white boxes, the work appears like a displayed drawer filled with secrets. Accompanying the boxes, I employ illustrated postcards as a tantalising glimpse and archive of these lives. Postcards are superficial fragments of the truth, concealing a greater narrative. My intent is to provoke thought about these domestic narratives - what disguises do we wear, and why do we assume these disguises? Juxtaposing the past with the present evokes both a sense of loss and recognition of what used to be, and what still is.

An artistic orange brushstroke design forms abstract shapes on a white background. Overlaid on the design is the word "artexpress" in a sleek, modern black font. The orange brush strokes appear dynamic and free-flowing, with splatters and tapered ends.Simplified waratah flower in deep red colour with the words NSW Government in dark blue stacked underneath.
