Since its inception in 2001, the Hazelhurst Art on Paper Award has become a significant national award dedicated to celebrating and elevating the significance of work on paper.
The Hazelhurst Art on Paper Award promotes excellence and innovation in the field of art on paper while supporting and encouraging artists who specialise in this medium.
With a total prize pool of $26,000, the Award recognises outstanding artworks created with, on, or about paper and provides a platform for recognition and an opportunity for artists to explore the materiality, versatility, and potential of paper as a medium for artistic expression.
Artforms can include, but are not limited to painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, photography, mixed media and video.

- Major Award: $15,000
- Young and Early Career Artist Award: $5,000
- Friends of Hazelhurst Local Artist Award: $5,000
- People's Choice Award: $1,000
- Preparator's Residency Award: A four-week residency in the Hazelhurst Cottage

The list of finalists will be emailed to all entrants, and published to the Hazelhurst website on Friday 1 August 2025.
Due to the high number of entries, we are unable to provide individual feedback to entrants.
We received a high number of email enquiries in the last week of submissions. Please rest assured we will respond to your enquiry as soon as we are able to.
Works must be presented ready for exhibition i.e. either mounted and framed or with appropriate hanging devices attached; supplied; or accompanied by instructions if necessary (i.e. pins or magnets required).
The artist’s name, address and phone number, title of work, and price or NFS (Not For Sale) must be clearly marked on the back of each work.
Unframed works will be mounted using pins or magnets, this will be decided by our install team based on the weight and material of your work.
No. If you have specific installation instructions, please provide these with your work.
In very specific circumstances the artist may be involved in the installation of their work but must complete the relevant instructions in advance.
Forward and return freight is the responsibility of the artist. All transit insurance, forward and return, is to be borne by the artist.
Works selected for the exhibition are to arrive at Hazelhurst between Monday 1 September and Friday 12 September 2025 between 10.00am and 4.00pm.
The works are to be delivered to Hazelhurst Arts Centre, Cnr Talara Road and Kingsway Gymea. The loading dock is on Talara Road. Phone: 02 8536 5700
Artists must collect their works between Tuesday 27 January and Friday 6 February between 10.00am and 4.00pm.
Works not collected within 14 days of final collection day will be disposed of at the discretion of Hazelhurst Arts Centre.
