Acrylic paint on ceramics

In my body of work I have explored the increasing negative effect humanity is having on the environment. My work is inspired by Venice and its unique layout, built on more than 100 small islands, using canals rather than roads. If we continue to damage the environment through increasing carbon emissions, it will lead to the sea levels rising in Venice as well as other major cities worldwide. By using acrylic paints and dry brushing on the ceramic surface I was able to make the buildings look weathered and aged so that they seem abandoned.

An artistic orange brushstroke design forms abstract shapes on a white background. Overlaid on the design is the word "artexpress" in a sleek, modern black font. The orange brush strokes appear dynamic and free-flowing, with splatters and tapered ends.Simplified waratah flower in deep red colour with the words NSW Government in dark blue stacked underneath.
