Five ceramic sculptures that look like melting icecream cones but each scoop of icecream is a bust of a different animal.

Melting Away

Ceramics and ceramic glaze

My body of work is influenced by my concern of human overindulgence and its effects on the environment. My aim is to communicate, the awareness of temperatures rising through a metaphor; melting ice cream cones. My series of ceramic sculptures depict threatened species from polar regions. Portraying the fragility of our relationship with the environment. The cones are exaggerated to highlight mass consumption in society. And these life-sized animals to a smaller scale, for the audience to give a sense of affection. As an artist, I'm promoting consequences of overindulgence. Climate change creates a pathway of extinction to all species.

An artistic orange brushstroke design forms abstract shapes on a white background. Overlaid on the design is the word "artexpress" in a sleek, modern black font. The orange brush strokes appear dynamic and free-flowing, with splatters and tapered ends.Simplified waratah flower in deep red colour with the words NSW Government in dark blue stacked underneath.
