We are calling for exhibition proposals for the Broadhurst Gallery from June 2027 to June 2028

Located within Hazelhurst Arts Centre, the Broadhurst Gallery is a high-profile public exhibition space. This space encourages, stimulates, and promotes local and regional cultural activities through an active and diverse exhibition program.

Located adjacent to Hazelhurst’s dedicated art studios, the exhibition space serves as a thoroughfare for the centre, including the studios, theatrette, café, and Hazelhurst Gallery. As such, the weekly visitation is approximately 3,000 visitors.

The exhibition space is approximately 35 running metres. Artists may select to use all or part of the gallery space. The Broadhurst Gallery has LED wash and spotlights throughout that can be positioned on the lighting tracks to suit the exhibition.

Artists and groups are invited to submit proposals to exhibit for three (3) weeks – a nineteen-day (19) exhibition period plus one (1) day each for installation and deinstallation.

Our Exhibitions Panel assesses applications in conjunction with the annual program and in accordance with the exhibition policy. The Exhibitions Panel includes artists, teachers, and local community representatives, as well as Hazelhurst’s Director and our Curator Exhibitions and Programs.

Some applications may be considered appropriate for inclusion in the Moran Gallery, Sylvania program, which we curate in partnership with the Moran Art Foundation. Applicants will be advised of any such recommendations and will have the opportunity to discuss proposed changes.

Once exhibitors are confirmed, the Curatorial team will contact you to discuss delivery, installation, exhibition opening details, media, and other arrangements. Successful applicants pay a hire fee of $1,280.00* and can sell their work with a 30% commission.

*Hire fee subject to change from 1 July 2027 in line with Sutherland Shire Council’s annual fees and charges review.

Before you begin the submission process, please make sure you have the following information prepared:

  • Applicant details:
    • Your name, address and contact details
  • Exhibition details:
    • Proposed exhibition title
    • Brief exhibition summary (max. 1000 characters including spaces)
    • Name/s of participating artists
    • Your preferred months for exhibition
    • A short biography of the artist/group (max 1000 characters including spaces)
    • Information about any exhibition partners or proposed public programs
  • Images:
    • Three (3) to six (6) high resolution images of actual or indicative works
    • Images must be JPG, PNG or GIF format
    • Image details for each image (artist name, artwork title, date, medium, dimensions)
