CHRYSALIS

Painting

Water-based oil on canvas

Chrysalis examines my ‘butterfly-like’ transformation from comfort in isolation to confidence in expression. My body of work uses the classic metaphor of a butterfly’s transformation, where blanket drapery represents ideas of growth through the development of ‘wings’. The exposure of my vulnerability conveys the inner strength of my personal journey to selfconfidence; from passiveness to quiet power.

My artmaking practice has been influenced by the study and interpretation of the following artists: Mary Cassatt, Berthe Morisot.
