My body of work investigates contemporary society’s fixation with artificial intelligence and technology and the rapid growth of our dependence on these innovations. Our immersion in screens and digital interaction guides our behaviour, drawing us together and pushing us apart. Using technological components to represent human functions my work examines the relationship between the human body and artificial systems. AI has over-perfected what it takes to be human, making every action more efficient than naturally possible. However, in this pursuit of precision, it forces us to question what it means to be human in a world increasingly shaped by technology.
My artmaking practice has been influenced by the study and interpretation of the following artists: Motohiko Odani, New Born ‘Halo’; Jason Bruges Studio, Mirror, Mirror; Stelarc, Reclining StickMan; Bill Henson, Untitled; yeng p, abyss; Liam Wong, Tokyo After Dark/Okubo Nights.
