The absence of colour in my body of work distinguishes it from neon reality, conveying an alternative world that is more pensive, like the quiet brought by a wet night in the city. Each photograph is distinct, a scene such as a train, or city pedestrians on a winter night, representing the emotions of urban isolation. My intention was to examine the essence of being an outsider and the feeling of being alienated. I invite the audience to walk through the city with the photographer, noticing these unremarkable and ordinary moments in time, seeing the city through a different lens.

My artmaking practice has been influenced by the study and interpretation of the following artists: Caravaggio, Antonio da Correggio, Adam de Coster, Lieko Shiga, Daido Moriyama, Saul Leiter, Ernst Hass, Rinko Kawauchi, Gustave Caillebotte, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Edgar Degas, Andrei Tarkovsky, Vihelm Hammershoi, Kosuke Okahara, Louis Stettner, Trent Parke, Yasuhiro Ogawa, Todd Hido, Josef Koudelka.
