Procreate

My body of work, Sharkbait, is a series of digital prints compiled in a small book illustrating the experiences of a girl named Shrimp. Through the sharks that follow or surround Shrimp I investigate social anxiety and its effect on her daily life. The first illustrations, set in the ocean, represent the initial onset of anxious thoughts. As the narrative progresses the setting shifts to public places and the imagery becomes increasingly vivid and chaotic, conveying Shrimp's escalating anxiety. I based the character of Shrimp on myself and how my personal experiences with social anxiety affect my everyday life.

My artmaking practice has been influenced by the study and interpretation of the following artists: Marija Tiurina, Vincent van Gogh, Yayoi Kusama.
