As a flower blooms, and a wave crests, all of nature conforms to the same forces of movement and evolution. Symbiotic Stillness investigates a moment in time within nature’s constant change. Interactions between these organic forms convey the interconnectedness of all living things, existing in symbiosis. I used Photoshop to make original compositions for my body of work, then oils to represent the nuanced detail of our natural world. My intention in using closed composition was to position the audience in a state of observance: an invitation to gain consciousness of our status as mere observers of the universe's unfolding.
My artmaking practice has been influenced by the study and interpretation of the following artists: Tim Maguire, James Gleeson, Joy Georgeson.
