I have been surrounded by music since I was born, so it plays a massive role in my life. My body of work celebrates women in music because I believe it's essential to highlight the amazing talents of women. I relate to these musicians, feeling connected to them through the lyrics of their songs. I chose to use a realistic style so I could represent the full beauty that these women have in life. My intention is for the audience to reflect on the influence and importance of women in music.
My artmaking practice has been influenced by the study and interpretation of the following artists: Frida Kahlo, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Joni Mitchell, Hope Gangloff.
