My body of work offers a glimpse into my world, using oil paint to represent myself and objects that symbolise personal and creative experiences. My intention was to convey a nuanced and vulnerable sense of my identity beyond conventional portraiture, investigating ideas of introspection and my self-imposed isolation in retreating into creative immersion. In the work I am engaging in a dialogue with myself, examining my authenticity and my developing identity. I also invite the audience into a dialogue through the inclusion of nostalgic toys, objects and hobbies which may hold symbolic qualities, values and interests that they share.
My artmaking practice has been influenced by the study and interpretation of the following artists: Felice House, Rosso Emerald Crimson, Benjamin Garcia, Cristina Troufa, Katty Cavaliere, Monica Rohan, Daniel Brici.
