Prison drama is a genre Australians have excelled at:  Inside is a prison film that has garnered critical acclaim for its powerful performances, nuanced storytelling, and unflinching portrayal of the prison system, avoiding common clichés.

Mel, a young inmate, is transferred from juvenile detention to an adult prison.  He is taken under the wing of two inmates: Mark Shepard, Australia's most despised criminal, and Warren Murfett, a soon-to-be-paroled inmate.  The paternal triangle that forms between them becomes their undoing.

Melbourne-born Chalres Williams won the Short Film Palme d'Or at Cannes Film Festival for All These Creatures, and this is his first feature - which debuted at last year's Melbourne International Film Festival.
