Join Byron Hurst as he explores the artistic rivalry between Renaissance Florence and Venice, drawing versus colour, and invites you to decide which reigns supreme.
Like Sydney and Melbourne, Florence and Venice have long been cultural rivals. Renaissance Florence promoted the idea that drawing was at the heart of art, with the likes of Da Vinci and Michelangelo. Venice, as the world's busiest port trading in coloured pigments, fostered artists like Bellini and Titian, the masters of colour.
Decide for yourself which is the greater, the Intellectualism of Drawing or the Emotion of Colour!
