A young Danish priest is sent to a remote part of Iceland in the late 19th century. As he travels across the landscape, he gradually loses a grip of his reality, his mission and his sense of duty.
This thought-provoking drama set in rural Denmark, follows the journey of a devoted priest named Johannes, who finds himself embroiled in a moral crisis. As Johannes struggles to reconcile his duties to his faith and his responsibilities he is forced to confront the inherent contradictions within himself and his community, ultimately leading to a profound exploration of guilt, forgiveness, and the nature of redemption.
